You are reading The Hall Monitors by Josh Dykstra! It tells the tales of a group of young musicians who dream of making it big and becoming successful with their music. The only problem is, no one cares about them or their music. They soon realize this, but that doesn't stop them from becoming bona fide rock stars... in their own minds at least. The goal for the webcomic is to portray the  experience of starting a band and trying to get your music heard; everything from coming up with a band name, to dealing with a nonexistant audience, to actually gaining a fanbase and becoming heroes in the local music scene. Like every band, they start off with nothing, but eventually get their shit together and make a name for themselves. It takes place in Tampa, FL (where Josh is from), so you may see some real places, venues, and people in the comic.

The author of THM is Josh Dykstra. He got the idea for this webcomic from being in a band himself. For the last 4 years, he has been the bass player for The Long Johns, as well as a member of a few other bands here and there. THM is sort of a loose autobiography of him and his time in these bands. And in case you were wondering, the character of Abe is kinda sorta based on Josh. When he's not making THM or playing bass in The Long Johns or talking in third person, Josh is creating more comics with his girlfriend, Kate Carleton, for Naughty Bicycle Comics. Together, they self-publish their own books, and take them to comic book conventions all over the Southeast. More info about this can be found at NaughtyBicycle.com!

The Hall Monitors updates every Friday! Thanks for reading!
