The Hall Monitors

I feel like I've been doing a lot of drummer bashing lately. I feel kinda bad about it since I do know a few really good drummers who also happen to be really nice people. Just know that all of the bashing comes from personal experience from a few years ago with a particular drummer I used to have in the band. He was quite a douche, to say the least. And his replacement was no bed of roses, either.

I wanted to do a page where the guys post a Craigslist ad because I think it's funny to read what other bands post on there. It's funny because there are a ton of bands out there who take themselves waaaayyyy too seriously, acting like bona fide rockstars, when you know they're really just playing Billy Idol covers for some nursing home. Not that there's anything wrong with playing Billy Idol tunes in a nursing home, but I do think that some bands take themselves too seriously, and for me, that's a turn off. I'm in a band to have some fun, not act like I'm better than anyone. While the Hall Monitors sometimes represent a band similar to my own, they're also a very young. I remember back in the day when I first started playing, thinking I was the bee's fucking knees, and I was in the best band ever. It took me a while to realize that I actually sucked, and playing this kind of music should be more about having fun rather than "making it" in the music business. I mean, not a lot of bands these days actually "make it" in this business. So I just have to laugh when I see a band taking themselves way too seriously like that.

Aaaannnnd now I feel like I'm ranting. Oops.
